Come in from the cold and spend a Sunday afternoon learning something new! The Potters Guild members will once again present unique workshops for all levels. Join these talented artists for inspiring workshops. All workshops held in The Potters Guild Carriage House Studio.

Altering Thrown Pots on the Wheel with Wendy Cotton
Sunday, January 13, 1pm – 4pm
Tired of pots that go round and round? Learn how to make square, oval, rectangular, fluted and swirled pots right on the wheel. Different methods of lip treatment and handles will also be demonstrated. Wendy’s many years of developing “tricks” with clay will be your “tricks”.

Making Simple Whistles with Kim Gutjahr
Sunday, January 20, 1pm – 4pm
Try your hand at building a simple functional clay whistle using handbuilding techniques. Basic components of the whistle mechanism will be explained during the step-by-step demonstration. Does not include firing. Limit 10 people.

Pots That Pour – Pitchers, Teapots, Cruets with Suzanne Kent
Sunday, January 27, 1pm – 3pm
Lots of demos and some hands-on for making pouring pots. Learn about all the details that can make these forms both functional and pleasing to the eye and hand. Bring some basic clay tools.

Boxes, Lids and Feet with Shari Sikora
Sunday, February 3, 1pm – 4pm
Learn different skills for all three in one afternoon. you will be shown a variety of techniques for creating a lidded vessel that can be used for anything from a keepsake box to a hand built tea pot. We will also experiment with different items for textures.

Tie-Dye with Bob Deane
Sunday, February 17, 1pm – 3pm
Have you always wanted to tie dye? Or want to learn new techniques? Want to give new life to an old stained apron? Learn from the master! Bring socks, shirts, towels, pillowcases, whatever! If it’s 100% cotton it can be tie dyed!

The Pot Doctors are in with Nadia Bond, Chris Hay and Carol Seymour
Sunday, February 24, 1pm – 4pm
Glazin’ not behavin’?? Lids listless?? Bottoms not quite tops?? form not followin’ function?? Bring your pots, your ceramic concerns large or small, your aesthetic queries grand or tiny, to this panel discussion and work-shop about issues that are of concern to you as you seek to enhance your skills by picking the brains of the finest ceramic minds of the modern era as we lay hands on whatever issues and concerns you wish to delve into. We’ll give you the best of our collective 85 years of messing about with all things mud. Pots, formulae, drawings and techniques and as many stages of the clay process as we can cover will be in play.
